Awareness session : National and International Engineering invention competitions: Piliyandala central college invention club

On the invitation of the Invention Club of Piliyandala Central College, President Lion Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda of Lions Club of Polgasowita and International Fair Director conducted an awareness and motivational programme on national and international invention and research competitions. Around 150 students and teachers participated. The session highlighted opportunities available through the Sri Lanka Science and Engineering Fair and pathways for Sri Lankan students to represent the country at global platforms such as the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair, Taiwan International Science Fair and SciFest. An interactive Q&A session was held. The programme was conducted under the “Akurata Saviyak” District Governor’s Programme, supporting the Lions global cause of Youth Empowerment and promoting innovation among school students.

FOLLOWING UP AND PROVIDING FERTILIZER FOR COCONUT PLANTS

PART PAYMENT OF SALARY FOR IT TEACHER

Lion Piyathilaka Dandeniya has been donating Rs.2,000/- to the School Development Society of WP/HO/Gungamuwa Primary School, Western Province, Sri Lanka, as a part payment of a salary for an IT Teacher, since there is no an IT Teacher has been recruited for the school. Lion Dandeniya and few others are contributing for this. This is for January 2026.

Sri Lanka Science and Engineering Fair 2026: Awareness session

An awareness session on the Sri Lanka Science and Engineering Fair (SLSEF), the national invention competition aimed at selecting young innovators to represent Sri Lanka at prestigious international platforms such as the International Science and Engineering Fair(USA), Taiwan International Science Fair, and SciFest(Ireland), was successfully conducted. The session was led by International Fair Director Lion Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda together with distinguished student inventors and alumni of international science fairs: Eng. Maduranga Karunajeewa (ISEF Alumni – 2010) and Chirath Senanayaka (ISEF2024, TISF2025. Their inspiring journeys and achievements were shared to motivate school students and parents to engage in innovation, research, and scientific thinking from an early stage. The programme included presentations on the importance of creativity, problem-solving, and research-based learning, followed by an interactive question and answer session.
