Lions International District 306 D2 was inaugurated in July 2025, ushering in a bold and transformative new era for Lionism in Sri Lanka. Built on the foundation of service, leadership, and unity, District 306 D2 emerges not just as a newly defined territory on the map, but as a powerful collective of Lions determined to deepen their impact and extend their reach into the heart of the communities they serve.
This historic milestone was part of the redistricting of the renowned District 306 A2, a district that stood strong since 2005. Under the visionary leadership of its Inaugural District Governor, Lion Rohantha de Fonseka MJF, and Vice District Governor Lion Leelanada de Silva MJF, District 306 A2 was formed through the administrative division of District 306 A into A1 and A2, starting with 42 clubs and around 1100 members. Over nearly two decades, it evolved into a powerhouse of service excellence, earning international recognition and consistently delivering impact across southern Sri Lanka—from Colombo to the southernmost coastal towns, and as far inland as Monaragala and Siyambalanduwa. District 306 A2 was guided by 20 exceptional leaders whose legacy of commitment and passion laid the groundwork for this new chapter.
Emerging from this proud heritage, District 306 D2 now stands independently with renewed vision and purpose. With 68 Lions Clubs and over 1,800 dedicated members, it is led by its Inaugural District Governor, Lion Priyantha Perera PMJF, alongside Vice District Governors Lion Sunethra Thanthiriwatta MJF and Lion Palitha Wijegoonawardena MJF. Together, this leadership team is committed to fostering growth, empowering future leaders, and expanding the district’s outreach.
Geographically, District 306 D2 spans a diverse and dynamic region. It includes key areas of Colombo City, such as the municipal wards east of Galle Road—Milagiriya, Havelock Town, Pamankada East, and Pamankada West—and parts of the Colombo District, including Kesbewa DSD, Udagahapaththuwa of Homagama DSD, and the areas east of Galle Road DSD. The district also extends through the Kalutara District, covering Bandaragama, Horana, Madurawela, Bulathsinhala, Agalawatte, Walallavita, Ingiriya, and Matugama. This blend of urban centers, suburban neighborhoods, and rural communities offers a wide range of opportunities for impactful service and meaningful engagement.
