At the request of the Lions Club of Mamp, We successfully donated essential educational and hygiene supplies to the students of Battuwandara Kanishka Vidyalaya. The donation included exercise books, art books, pens, pencils, erasers, and rulers, alongside vital personal care items, including, napkins, Dettol, and first-aid plasters, to support student health and learning.

FIGHT FOR CANCER

With hearts full of compassion, we spent a deeply moving day alongside 30 courageous men and women at Shantha Sevana House Peace in Maharagama. Serving lunch and sharing a warm evening tea with the patients in this dedicated palliative care unit was about so much more than providing food—it was about offering presence, human dignity, and a gentle reminder that they are not alone. Bringing a small spark of comfort, joy, and hope to these brave individuals during such a difficult time truly touched us all.

Donation of Blood Glucouse Test Strips

The Lions Club of Horana Excellence donated 200 Blood Glucose Test Strips to the NCD Clinic at District Hospital, Kandana. This contribution will support the clinic in providing essential blood glucose monitoring services to patients by supporting the healthcare needs of our community.

We lions club of Horana provided Soft drinks to all participants for the event. Divisional Secretary participated as the chief guest to the event.

Sponsored the kite festival at Dikhenapura Public ground on 16.08.2026. This event was organized by volunteer organization of the Dikhenapura Housing scheme. We the lions club of Horana Sponsored the Kite festival by providing 80 gifts packs (exercise books and school materials) to participants children. More than 100 children participated to the event. Lion Sanjeewa Kavirathne (President) was the project chairperson . As this is a Public event Divisional Secretary participated as chief guest. Lion R.Ranathunge and lion Sanjeewa Kavirathne participated on behalf of the club. More than 100 children and their parents participated to the event. 80 gift packs Donated by the club. Successful Joint Project – Diabetes Awareness Programme A successful joint project was conducted by the Lions Club of Horana Excellence in collaboration with the Lions Club of Arawwala focusing on Diabetes Awareness and Prevention. The awareness session was conducted by Lion Dr. Praneeth Nishad, who shared valuable knowledge and guidance on diabetes prevention, healthy living, and the importance of early awareness.

How to prevent childhood cancer

The Lions Club of Horana Excellence, in collaboration with the MOH Office, Horana, successfully conducted an important and impactful awareness programme focused on the prevention and early awareness of childhood cancer. The programme featured valuable and informative lectures delivered by distinguished university lecturers from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the University of Colombo, providing participants with important knowledge on childhood cancer prevention, awareness, and early identification. The event was also graced by the participation of Zone Chairperson – Region 9, Zone 2, Lion Iroshan Ariyarathna MAF, and Cabinet Officer Lion Dhananjaya Ruhunage MJF. More than 100 participants took part in this valuable programme, demonstrating the strong community interest in creating awareness and protecting the health and wellbeing of children. Together, we can create awareness, promote early action, and build a healthier future for our children.
