Another humanitarian service by Kumbuka Dynamic Eagles Lions Club – A useful medical device is presented to a paralysed child Another humanitarian project carried out by Kumbuka Dynamic Eagles Lions Club was implemented today at the premises of Asiri Hospital, Narahenpita. Here, a special medical device was presented to a four-year-old paralysed child living in the Ampara area, which is essential for promoting his recovery. The funds required for this assistance were provided by the financial support of the members of Kumbuka Dynamic Eagles Lions Club.

Thalapathwewa primary school too did not have drinking water facility and the students were facing a big difficulty as their families had to buy drinking water from out side. Though there were water in wells it was contaminated and certified by the MOH to be full of bacteria and not recommended as good for drinking. With the coordination of the NWSB and initiative of Lion Saman of LCHM laying of pipe lines, building the storage tank and fixing taps and water lines were completed and handed over project to the school on 9th Jan, in pa with the Hunger week, and the school had a vast need for drinking water for the students and staff.

Installation of Drinking water to Halmillagolla School in the Kurunegala district

This school is situated in the high remote and high risk by elephants walking in the vicinity of the school which is called Halmillagolla primary school with about 242 students up to O/L. The school has no drinking water facilities and as per the medical reports about 75% students are on the verge of having kidney problems. On the request of the NWSB and the initiative of Ln Saman Kidelpitiya, along with few HM lion members this site was inspected and laying of pipe lines were commenced in December during school vacation. Once completed and after the school commence in parallel with Hunger week . the water supply to the Halmillagolla was given ceremonially to the school. With Ln Saman Zone Chairman, Secretary of HM and few members participated on 9th Jan. 2026. The students and principal praised the club for this task as drinking water was a must to the school. .

Lions District 306 D2 Combines Festive Cheer with Hunger Relief During Global Service Week

During the Lions Clubs International Global Service Week under the theme of Hunger, Lions District 306 D2, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Piliyandala, successfully organized a Christmas Celebration on 5th January 2026 at St. Sebastian’s Girls’ School, with the participation of 530 schoolchildren, under the leadership of District Governor Lion Priyantha Perera PMJF PMAF and First Lady Lion Dushanthie Gomes MAF. Several Cabinet Officers, including Second Vice District Governor Lion Palitha Wijegunawardana, graced the occasion. The students of St. Sebastian’s showcased their talents through Christmas carols and a Nativity play, creating a festive and joyful atmosphere. As part of the hunger-relief initiative, a sumptuous and hygienic lunch was served to 550 individuals, including all students and teachers, by Kushan Caterers.
