On 24th April 2026, the Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies organized a joyful service activity at Gungamuwa Primary School, Bandaragama, led by Project Chairperson Lion Sriyanthi Senarathna. In line with the Awurudu season, gifts were distributed among the children to enhance their festive celebrations. The initiative filled the school with happiness and laughter, making the New Year more meaningful for the young students. It was a memorable occasion for both the children and club members, reflecting the true spirit of sharing and compassion. This project also strengthened community ties while encouraging care and kindness towards the younger generation.

As part of its continued commitment to youth development and sports promotion, the Lions Club of Piliyandala successfully implemented a school sports development project at Sri John Kotelawala Maha Vidyalaya, Piliyandala. Under this initiative, four (04) javelins were donated to the school with the objective of encouraging students to actively engage in athletics, enhance their sporting skills, and promote discipline and teamwork. The Lions Club of Piliyandala proudly undertook this project as part of its effort to nurture young talent and contribute to the overall physical, personal, and character development of schoolchildren.

The programme was conducted by Mr. Sameera Kariyawasam, renowned Journalist of ITN, who inspired the children through motivational insights, practical guidance, and engaging interaction aimed at encouraging personal growth, confidence, and future aspirations. This initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of Lions Club District 306 D2 towards empowering children through education, inspiration, and humanitarian service.

Nari Suwa Sewana - Medical camp for women

The Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies organized “Nari Suwa Sevana,” an Ayurvedic medical camp on 27th March 2026 at SANASA, Western Itibedda, Moratuwa, to commemorate International Women’s Day. Chaired by Lion Rangika Jayathilaka, the program was dedicated to improving women’s health, with special attention given to those suffering from diabetes. Participants received Ayurvedic treatments using indigenous medicine, along with consultations on managing diabetes through natural remedies, diet, and lifestyle practices. Additional general medical services were also provided. The initiative promoted awareness of traditional healing and preventive care. Club instructor Lion Thusitha Aushadarathna supported the project through his active participation and coordination, ensuring its success.

A valuable volleyball coaching session was conducted for the students of Siripathi Vidyalaya by the Captain and Vice Captain of the University of Moratuwa Volleyball Team, bringing expert knowledge and practical skills directly to the school level. This initiative was successfully facilitated by the Leo Club of Polgasowita, highlighting the strong collaboration between Lions and Leos in youth development. The session focused on fundamental techniques, teamwork, game strategy, and discipline, providing students with hands-on training and inspiration from experienced university-level players. Their guidance greatly motivated the students and elevated their interest and confidence in the sport. Adding excitement to the programme, a friendly volleyball match was organized between senior and junior teams, creating a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie. The match showcased the skills learned during the coaching session.

Providing voleyball and net to Siripathi vidyalaya
