Lions Service Week – Environmental Arts Competition In celebration of Lions Service Week, the Lions Clubs International together with the Lions Club of Polgasowita organized an Environmental Arts Competition for the students of Dharmaraja Vidyalaya Piliyandala. In line with the message of the International President (IP), this initiative aimed to create awareness among school children on the importance of environmental protection. Students were encouraged to express their ideas creatively through art, highlighting themes such as a clean environment, conservation of natural resources, reduction of pollution, and the importance of sustainable living. Although the establishment of invention clubs in every school has been mandated by government directive, many of the above-mentioned schools had not yet implemented this initiative. To address this gap, an Inventors’ Club was successfully established, at Vidyaloka Vidyalaya, Arawwala .office bearers were appointed, and the club was formally recognized—thereby strengthening student engagement in innovation and supporting Youth Development and Education & Literacy in line with Lions’ global causes. 62 students and 05 teachers participated. |

The project was chaired by Lion JSugath Ranasinghe, whose leadership ensured the effective organization and success of the session. The session highlighted the importance of innovation in technical fields, encouraging students to develop creative solutions to real-world challenges. Students were introduced to emerging areas such as robotics, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and engineering design, with guidance on how to build skills from a young age. |
