Sponsoring cataract surgeries by the lions club of Horana.

Sponsored as at date 25 cataract surgeries by the club through lions eye Hospital Kadawatha. Project chairperson lion Indika Padmakumara. Pending more Surgeries in future also. We provided 160 lenses to the Hospital. We have been allowed 60 Cataract operation free of charge. As at date 25 surgeries have been done on behalf of the lions club of Horana. Hospital confirmation letter attached. Since Kadawatha Golden Jubilee eye Hospital is in remote area lions club of Horana excellence Secretary has been appointed our Cordinator on behalf of the club.

Planted 25 Kumbuk,Meeting,and Mahogani trees in Ingiriya Vibulananda Tamil School premises on 24.04.2026. Project chairperson lion Dayapala Pathirage. Participation-lions 3 non Lions 3 Beneficiaries =Total no of students and teachers of the school. Students population =307 Teachers =15 =322 This Activity was done in conjunctions with lions international environmental service week. Plants received free of charge. District chairperson donated the plants.

Donated a Garbage collection bin to the Thakshila MV on 24.04.2026. In other hand this is a compost recycling Barrel. This can be used many years. Project chairperson lion Upali Thisera. Students population =3245 This project was done in conjunctions with lions international environmental service week.

Meals for blood donors

For over two decades, the Lions Club of Polgasowita has consistently demonstrated excellence in humanitarian service by not only organizing blood donation campaigns, but also by thoughtfully providing meals for blood donors—an essential component that reflects care, responsibility, and respect for every donor. Offering meals after blood donation is both a medical and ethical responsibility. After donating blood, individuals may experience temporary fatigue or a slight drop in blood sugar levels. Providing a nutritious meal and refreshments helps donors recover quickly, maintain energy levels, and prevent dizziness or discomfort. Beyond the physical benefits, meals serve as a gesture of appreciation. Donors give a part of themselves to save lives, and providing food acknowledges their contribution in a meaningful and respectful way. It enhances the overall donor experience, encouraging repeat participation and building long-term commitment to voluntary blood donation.

Blood donation campaign - LC Polgasowita

For over two decades, the annual blood donation campaign organized by the Lions Club of Polgasowita has stood as a powerful example of sustained community service and humanitarian commitment. Such long-term continuity not only builds trust within the community but also ensures a reliable contribution to the national blood supply. Blood donation campaigns are vital for maintaining an adequate and safe blood supply, especially for emergencies, surgeries, cancer treatments, and maternal care. Regular campaigns help reduce shortages and ensure timely availability of life-saving blood. From a health perspective, donors often benefit from basic health screenings prior to donation, which can help detect potential health issues early. Additionally, controlled blood donation may support the body’s natural process of producing new blood cells, contributing to overall well-being. These campaigns also play an important role in raising awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation.

Dengue prevention shramadana campaign-Conducting a programme on Environment

24 April 2026 at Makuluduwa New Model School the occasion of National Environment Week, a tree planting program and a dengue prevention shramadana campaign were successfully carried out under the same project. A total of 400 students, 33 staff members, and 15 Lions from the Lions Club of Arawwala actively participated in this meaningful initiative. We, the Lions Club of Arawwala, extend our sincere thanks to all our members for their continuous support and dedication. Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to the District 306 D2 leadership, the Club President, and all Lions and Lion Ladies who participated and contributed to making this project a great success. In the occasion of National Environment Week, a tree planting program was organized on 24 April 2026 at Makuluduwa New Model School. Fruit plants were donated to 400 students and 33 members of the teaching staff, followed by a tree planting initiative within the school premises. We, the Lions Club of Arawwala, extend our sincere thanks to all our members for their continuous support and dedication. Organising a tree planting project

tree planting program organized by the Millaniya Golden Jubilee Lions Club, Galpatha Muthuhara Children's Club was held on the 19th of April at the Galpatha Community Hall. 25 types of plants were planted, including coconut trees, fruit trees and kubu trees in water-bearing areas.
