.Meals were thoughtfully provided to all scholarship recipients and certificate winners, adding warmth and care to the occasion. This gesture not only ensured the well-being of the students but also created a sense of fellowship and celebration among participants. Sharing a meal together symbolizes unity, appreciation, and inclusiveness—core aspects of Lion values. It reflects the commitment of the Lions to go beyond formal recognition by nurturing both the physical and emotional well-being of the children. Such acts of kindness strengthen the bond between the Lions and the students, making the event more memorable and meaningful. It reinforces the message that service is not only about support and recognition, but also about compassion, dignity, and genuine care for the community.

A series of essay, art, and speech competitions were successfully organized throughout the year focusing on important themes such as environmental protection, disaster relief, and peace, with the active participation of students from Kotalawala Vidyalaya, Siripathi Vidyalaya, Darmaraja Vidyalaya, and Sudarmarama Daham Pasala. These programmes were aimed at creating awareness among the younger generation, encouraging them to think deeply about global challenges and express their ideas creatively and confidently. Students demonstrated great enthusiasm and insight, highlighting the importance of nurturing socially responsible and informed future citizens. In addition, an invention competition was conducted to promote creativity and innovation, giving students an opportunity to present new ideas and practical solutions. This initiative helped to inspire scientific thinking and problem-solving skills among young participants. All participants were awarded certificates and gifts.

Monthly scholarship payment to local students was made on 25.04.2026. This is olso our signature project doing each and every month. Project chairperson lion Lalith Wijayasiri. This project has been named as Ananda Wijayasiri Memorial scholarship project. All funds are being transferred to the club projects funds Account through standing order. Each students are being paid Rs 3000.00 per month. Benifceries-43 selected low income families students are the benifceries.

Monthly scholarship payment to local students was made on 25.04.2026. This is also our signature project doing each and every month. Project chairperson PDG Lion Nimal Aluthge. Benifceries-10 These local scholarship are sponsored by members of the club. Each students are being paid Rs 2000.00 per month.

Free spectacles to Darmasena Balika studentsabe

Following the vision screening programmes, vision-impaired students of Darmasena Balika Vidyalaya were carefully identified and assessed. In response to this need, Lion Jayantha Abeygunarathna generously donated free spectacles, ensuring that these students could continue their education without the barrier of poor eyesight. This meaningful act reflects Lion Jayantha Abeygunarathna’s longstanding philanthropy and unwavering commitment to sight conservation over the past four decades. His continuous involvement in vision-related initiatives has brought clarity and hope to countless individuals, especially schoolchildren from underprivileged communities. Providing spectacles is not merely a medical support—it significantly enhances a student’s ability to learn, actively participate in classroom activities, and build self-confidence. Clear vision is essential for academic success and overall personal development. This initiative exemplifies the true Lion values of compassion.

The “Siha Saviya” Scholarship Programme stands as a flagship humanitarian initiative of the Lions Club of Polgasowita, conducted in collaboration with the Lions Club of Paris Longchamp. Successfully carried out for the 32nd consecutive year, this joint project reflects a long-standing international partnership dedicated to empowering children through education. The programme is designed to support students facing financial difficulties, ensuring that economic hardships do not hinder their educational journey. Through continuous financial assistance, essential school supplies, and encouragement, the project uplifts deserving students and provides them with the opportunity to pursue their academic goals with confidence. A key strength of the Siha Saviya programme is its commitment to continuous follow-up and monitoring of students’ educational progress. This ensures that the support provided translates into meaningful academic improvement and personal development.

As a gratitude for the hard work by the staff of HighRay optical industries for the vision screening, eye camps organized by the Lion club Polgasowita, Lion Jayantha Abeygunarathna paid Rs. 4000.00 each an allowance as a gift vouchcer to 150 workers. President Lion Jayavilal Meegoda and Lion Jayasiri Attanayake, Lion Manohari Abeygunarathna participated, imprtance of eye clinic and lion values As a token of sincere appreciation for the dedicated service rendered by the staff of HighRay Optical Industries during the vision screening programs and eye camps organized by the Lions Club of Polgasowita, Lion Jayantha Abeygunarathna generously provided a gift voucher allowance of Rs. 4,000.00 each to 150 workers. This thoughtful gesture recognized the commitment, and compassion shown by the team in supporting community eye care initiatives. President Lion Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda, along with Lion Jayasiri Attanayake and Lion Manohari Abeygunarathna, were present at the occasion.

With the help of school prefects "Kumbuk" & "Mahogani" tress were planted around the school playground under the theme of "Go Greener & more sustainable future" Cabinet Office Lion Piyathilaka Dandeniya, Club President Lion Wasantha Jayawardane, Lion U. K. G. Menike & the principal of the school Mrs Vajira Kalubowila were participated it. Lion Wasantha Jayawardane was the project chairperson of the project.
