SCHOLORSHIP FOR A STUDENT - SUGITHMA JAYATHILAKA

P. Sugiethma Jayathilaka whose father lost few years ago, is a student of Horana Taxila College, Western Province. She qualified for the AL last year and requested financial assistance for her studies . We communicated with Mr Ruchira Bandara and he agreed to give his hands to that student and since December 2024 he injected funds to Sugithma's mothers account through our project account.

DONATION FOR AN IT TEACHER

Lion Piyathilaka Dandeniya has been donating Rs.2,000/- to the School Development Society of WP/HO/Gungamuwa Primary School as a part payment of a salary for an IT Teacher, since there is no an IT Teacher has been recruited for the school due to lack of infrastructure facilities. Lion Piyathilaka Dandeniya donated 400 plants to Lions Clubs from Colombo to Mathugama to be planted on 1st July 2025, free of charge.

Under the guidance of Multiple District 306, we planted 100 Arjun trees (Kumbuk) and Madhuca trees (Mee) on the reservation area of a river at Nambapana, Ingiriya, Western Province. This is the first and the main project of lionistc year 2025/26 of 306D2 District Governor and tree planting progrmme scheduled on 1st July 2025. District Governor also participated for the event. Also 5 budded fruit plants were donated to 5 schools nearby in the area to be planted in school premises.

Nikini Poya Day Dana Program Serving Kindness – Kurakkan Kenda Distribution Sisilawardhanarama Temple, Piliyandala Road, Maharagama 8 August 2025 Early Morning – 5:30 AM On the sacred Nikini Poya Day, the Lions Club of Arawwala together with the Leo Club of Arawwala carried out a heartfelt Dana project by serving Kurakkan Kenda (millet porridge) to more than 250 individuals — including elders and children from the Midullegama community — as part of a special Hunger Relief Program. This spiritually enriching initiative took place at Sisilawardhanarama Temple, Maharagama, spreading warmth, compassion, and togetherness on this blessed and peaceful occasion. "On 3rd August 2025, under the project chairmanship of Lion Prasad Jayathilaka, the Indira Trust Cancer Foundation successfully organized a Relaxing Music Therapy session aimed at promoting the mental well-being of 40 children and their parents. Musical contributions were made by Lion Danuka, Lion Sarangi, Lion Kokila, Little Miss Yusali, and Lion Lakmali, who performed songs. Lion Prasad, Lion Rajiva, Lion Nuwan, and a non-Lion professional musician also participated in the program. Sponsorship for gifts was kindly provided by Lion Udara, Lion Bhashini, and Lion Prasad"
