Lions Club of Arawwala – programme on Hunger Project The Lions Club President and Project Chairpersons, Lion Prasadith Padmakumara (LCIF District Coordinator – Akurata Saviya Project) and Lion Chandrika Wijesooriya as Co-Project Chairperson, successfully carried out this noble initiative in the Balangoda – Waligepola area, benefiting over 300 underprivileged and special needs children. The program also included a morning meal for more than 350 students, 300 parents, and school staff and organizing committee members, bringing the total number of participants to around 750. Conducted under the Hunger Relief theme, the event was a great success. Mental Health awareness and mind development Program at Sri Panghananda Sunday School - Polgasowita

A session on mental health and well-being in the community was conducted on 12th October 2025 at Sri Panghananda Sunday School, Polgasowita, as part of the Service Week activities held from 4th to 12th October 2025. The session was facilitated by Lion Samini Dias, a counselor with a diploma in psychology and a member of the Lions Club of Kalubowila. Around 50 teenagers participated in the session, which focused on raising awareness and promoting mental wellness among youth. The event was also graced by the presence of LCI District Chairperson - Marketing ,Lion Devduni, who supported the initiative.

We, the Lions Club of Weedagama in District 306D2 celebrated World Children's Day with WP/HO Samaranayake Primary School, Mahabellana, Western Province, Sri Lanka on 01.10.2025. This limited facility primary school has small number of children and they were provided a special lunch and gift parcels on that day.

Binara Poya Day – Kurakkan Kenda (Porridge) Offering Date: 7th Septhember 2025 Sisilawardhanarama Temple Piliyandala road Maharagama On Nikini Poya Day, the Lions Club had the privilege of serving warm Kurakkan Kenda (millet porridge) to more than 250 devotees at the Sisilawardhanarama Temple in the morning. This act of kindness is part of our ongoing Hunger Project, which is deeply important to us. We believe that feeding those in need—whether with food or drink—is one of the purest forms of service. "Book Donation Project by Lions Club of Arawwala In Collaboration with Lions Club of Colombo Kalubovila On Sunday, 27th July, the Lions Club of Arawwala successfully carried out a heartfelt book donation project in support of our sister club, the Lions Club of Colombo Kalubovila. The event took place at the residence of Lion Sarath Kumara. This meaningful initiative was attended by Zone Chairman Lion Anuruddha Weerasinghe, Zone Chairman Lion Sarath Kumara, and several key club officers. Region 2 Chairman Lion Gaman Kithsiri graced the occasion as well, demonstrating strong support for inter-club collaboration and the importance of promoting literacy within our communities. Cataract operation for a Non Lion

In response to a request made by a well known non Lion lady desperately needed cataract surgery to both eyes, the matter was considered on sympathetic grounds and directed her to the Lions Golden Jubilee Hospital in Kadawatha. The surgery was successfully completed initially to the right eye through the Lions Golden Jubilee Hospital in Kadawatha. Left Eye was also advised to be operated and to be done soon.. cost borne by the member introduced her to the hospital

DISTRICT TREE PLANTING PROJECT

Lion Piyathilaka Dandeniya was the Project Chairperson of 306D2 District Tree Planting Project held at the Police Training School, Kaluthara, Western Province, Sri Lanka. Some Clubs in the Region 8 and Lions personally funded this project. 500 coconut saplings planted and 50 Nos vegetable & fruit plant packs distributed among 50 trainees of the school and also 50 Nos budded Jak plants distributed among Lion members on that day. 06 members of our club participated. ( From Lion Piyathilaka Dandeniya - 90,000/- From L/C Weedagama - 30,000/- , From Lion Sarath Premasiri - 20,000/- = Total Rs.140,000/-) (Vegetable & fruit plants 50 + Jak plants 50)

B Rasindi Anuththara Mendis is studying at WP/HO/Gungamuwa Primary School coming from a poor family. Her father has no permanent job and doing daily paid work from place to place. Mother also has no job. They requested us some financial assistance to support their daughter's education. Accordingly, we arranged a scholorship to pay tution fees etc. for this student from our club account. Principal of the school also recommended this donation.

SCHOLORSHIP TO STUDENT - SUGITHMA JAYATHILAKA

P. Sugiethma Jayathilaka whose father lost few years ago, is a student of Horana Taxila College, Western Province. She qualified for the AL last year and requested financial assistance for her studies . We communicated with Mr Ruchira Bandara and he agreed to give his hands to that student and since December 2024 he injected funds to Sugithma's mothers account through our project account.
