Project Chairman : Akila Rangajith Ukwaththa

Tree Planting Program in Warnagala Protected Forest The Lions Club of Horana Mid City & Bodyline Pvt Ltd & Gamini Central College successfully carried out a large-scale tree planting program within the Warnagala Protected Forest, planting 1,000 carefully selected saplings to support long-term ecosystem restoration. Prior to the program, a comprehensive ecological survey was conducted to identify the most suitable plant species for the unique environmental conditions of the area. To ensure scientific accuracy, we undertook a pilot field visit to the Warnagala Forest Reserve under the expert guidance of Dr. Kamal Abeygunawardana. We also visited the Sinharaja Rain Forest to further strengthen our understanding of biodiversity, forest structure, and species selection for conservation. High-quality, endemic saplings were obtained from Dilmah Conservation and the Sinharaja Plant Nursery, ensuring that the species selected were ecologically appropriate and capable of thriving naturally.
