The Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies organized “Suwadana Saviya,” an Ayurvedic medical camp on 27th March 2026 at SANASA, Western Itibedda, Moratuwa, to mark International Women’s Day. Led by Project Chairperson Lion Rangika Jayathilaka, the program was specially arranged for women in the community to enhance their health and well-being. Participants were treated using indigenous Ayurvedic remedies along with additional medical services and consultations. The initiative highlighted the importance of traditional healing practices and preventive care for women. Club instructor Lion Thusitha Aushadarathna graced the occasion and provided valuable coordination, contributing to the overall success of the project. |

Based on findings reported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), it is estimated that for every tree planted and properly maintained, four people benefit—highlighting the significant social and environmental impact of sustained tree‑planting initiatives. In alignment with this global perspective, we successfully launched a Tree Planting Project at Lion Sirinimal Kasthriarachchi's Residance - Piliyandala , through which 100 plants were donated to Low income families couple with Dry ration contribution's project. |

Under the project theme “Global Cause – Conducting a Program for Hunger”, initiated by District Governor Lion Priyantha Perera of Lions Clubs International – District 306 D2, a donation campaign was successfully conducted to support selected low income families in the Piliyandala area. This humanitarian initiative was organized by the Lions Club of Piliyandala with the objective of addressing food insecurity among vulnerable communities. The entire project was generously sponsored by Lion Sirinimal Kasthriarachchi, a valued member of the Lions Club of Piliyandala. On 08th April 2026, dry ration packs were prepared and distributed at the residence of Lion Sirinimal Kasthriarachchi , Piliyandala. A total of 130 beneficiary families received dry ration packs, ensuring meaningful assistance to households in need. |

As part of Lions Service Week, special focus was given to environmental protection with an emphasis on responsible e-waste management. With the rapid growth of technology, discarded electronic items such as mobile phones, computers, batteries, and accessories have become a major environmental concern due to the hazardous materials they contain. A key highlight of the initiative was an educational webinar organized by the Lions Club of Polgasowita, delivered by Dr. Arosha Hemali, Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Technology at the University of Sri Jayawardenepura and an expert in e-waste management. The session provided valuable technical insights into the lifecycle of electronic products, the risks associated with improper disposal, and modern, sustainable approaches to e-waste handling and recycling. The program emphasized practical methods of managing e-waste, including proper collection, segregation, and handing over to authorized recyclers. |

A Diabetes clinic was successfully conducted , focusing on Lions International’s global cause of diabetes prevention and care. The session was held for the elders supported by Government social acheme. A special medical clinic was also conducted by Dr. Swarna Meegoda, and Dr. Lalan Thanthiriwatte, Senior Medical Officers. Elders were given the opportunity for basic screenings, medical advice, and personalized consultations. The Q&A session was particularly engaging, with elders raising many practical questions about diabetes management, diet, medication, and preventive care—reflecting a strong interest and awareness among participants. The programme successfully fulfilled the objective of empowering the elderly community with essential knowledge on diabetes and promoting healthier lifestyles in alignment with Lions’ global cause. |

On the invitation of the Principal and Master in charge of Girls High school, Mt Lavinia, President LC Polgasowita Lion Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda, International Fair Director conducted an awareness and motivational presentation on national and international invention and research competitions. The session was attended by 38 students and 05 teachers. The presentation focused on the importance of innovation, research, creativity, and problem solving for school students. He explained the pathways available for Sri Lankan young inventors to participate in global competitions through the national selection process. A highly interactive Question and Answer session was held, and the participation and enthusiasm of the students and teachers were very satisfactory. The session also included detailed explanations of the national and international competitions affiliated with the programme. The national competition is the Sri Lanka Science and Engineering Fair, conducted annually. |
