Organizing a project with Leos programme on Disaster Relief

in shinhalDue to the recent disaster, many families are in urgent need of support. The Lions Club of Arawwala and the Leo Club of Arawwala are currently collecting dry goods, drinking water, medicines, clothing, and essential food items to assist those affected by the floods in several parts of Sri Lanka. The collection center is located in Bokundara, A stock of essential items will be distributed among the disaster-affected families under the guidance of the Regional Chairperson of Region 01, Zone 02, together with the Lions Club of Arawwala and the Leo Club of Arawwala. We kindly request your generous support to help those in need during this difficult time.

Gammanmaduwa Ditwa Victims visit for donation of essential items

Essential items for the Families affected in the village Gammanmaduwa which is the biggest affected area in the Matale district was visited with donations to 80 families. These victims were living in the Temple under the guidance of the Buddhist Priest of the village temple and coordination by the SL Army. Items like, school bags, clothes for children and elders, books, stationery, mamoty blades, jungle knives for their day to day activities, umbrellas, and 80 essential food packs were donated to 80 families under the recommendation of the Grama Sewaka. Also members visited the entire village area damaged by earth slips by the Ditwa Storm. All together 20 members including non lions and lions visited for this generous donation.

Distribution of Fruits plants as celebration of lions Birthday.

Donated 600 Fruits plants to People's Who participated to Hear Damma Deshana at Vidyarathna temple Horana. This Activity was done parallel to Damma Deshana program held at Vidyarathna temple Horana. Project chairperson lion R.Ranathunge This is our signature project doing each and every year same day. Beneficiaries-55 Rs 5000.00 Donated for the event. Local scholarship program-2 (Ananda Wijayasiri Memorial scholarship project)-2026 January.

Monthly scholarship payment to local students under Ananda Wijayasiri Memorial scholarship project Was made on 31.01.2026 for the month of January 2026. Project chairperson lion Lalith Wijayasiri. Beneficiaries-43 Each students giving Rs 3000.00 per month. All funds are being transferred to our project funds A/C monthly through Standing order. Payment are being made same day and same venue. Payment Responsibility given to PDG Lion Nimal Aluthge.

Local scholarship program-1 -2026 January.

Monthly scholarship payment to local students was made on 31.01.2026. This is our signature project doing each and every month. Funds are being contributed by individuals lions. Each Student Is Giving Rs 2000.00 per month. Beneficiaries-10 10 students Have been selected to this project. Five lions donating for this project.

Clean up Boralesgamuwa Lake.

The Colombo Kalubowila Lions Club, in collaboration with the Maharagama City Council and with the support of the public, launched a project to clean the Boralesgamuwa Lake and the area around the lake. The beautiful lake with its ecological value and the area around it have been destroyed by people.
