In our ongoing efforts to support youth development and community wellbeing, the Horana Midcity Lions Club provided evening snacks and tea for 75 students who participated in the volleyball tournament at WP/HO Gamini Central College, Ingiriya. This gesture ensured the young players were cared for and energized, motivating them to perform with enthusiasm and team spirit. We are proud to encourage the next generation and will continue to serve the community with dedication.

With the sponsorship of the Horana Midcity Lions Club, a volleyball tournament was held at Ingiriya Gamini Central College on 12th September 2025, for 10 teams from the area, under the leadership of the District 306 D2 Governor Lion Priyantha Perera PMJF and Lion Lady. The main objectives were to establish an under-16 boys’ team for the Ingiriya Sports Club, to evaluate the children’s skills, and to promote the game of volleyball. The program was chaired by Lion Akila Ukwaththa (President, Lions Club of Horana Mid City) and coordinated by Dasuni Wikramasinghe. 306 D2 R7 Regenol Chairperson Lion Dayapala Pathirage MJF Participated to the event.

A special project was organized By Lions club of Horana Midcity to recognize and celebrate the achievements of 31 students from Ingiriya Gamini Vidyalaya who successfully completed and passed their First Aid Examination. A comprehensive lecture on First Aid was conducted to reinforce the students’ knowledge and raise awareness about the importance of first aid in everyday life and emergency situations. The lecture was delivered by two experienced representatives from the Red Cross Society, providing valuable insights, real-life examples, and demonstrations. As a form of appreciation and encouragement, each of the 31 students was: • Awarded a certificate of achievement recognizing their successful completion of the first aid course. • Presented with an official badge as a symbol of their qualification and responsibility in providing first aid when necessary. Two Lecturers from the Red Cross provided expert knowledge during the Program and participated in the certificate distribution.

The hope is to protect the watersheds in this area, prevent riverbank erosion, and minimize environmental and air pollution caused by factories in this area. The ceremonial inauguration of this noble project was held with District Governor of 306 D2, Lion Priyantha Perera MJF, MAF, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest, accompanied by the District First Lady, Lion Dushyanthi Gomes. The event was attended by district cabinet secretary and officers & Regon 07 chairperson, Zone no 02 chairperson & Lions leaders, the Divisional Secretary, government officials, forest department officers , the Officer-in-Charge and other officers of the Sri Lanka Police, as well as school environmental groups. The project was chaired by Lion Akila Ukwaththa ( President Lions club of horana midcity) , and organized by the Lions Clubs of Horana Mid City

The Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies successfully conducted its major humanitarian project, “Oba Wenuwen Api – We Are There for You,” on October 3, 2025, under the theme Children / Other Humanitarian Services and sub-theme Initiative for the Disabled. The program began at the M.J.F. School for Children with Special Needs in Moratuwa and continued through four inspiring phases at Colombo Lotus Tower, Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo Harbour, and Galle Face Green. Throughout the journey, children received meals, gifts, and opportunities to sing, dance, and play, creating a joyful and memorable day. The event was chaired by Club Treasurer Lion Shama Nilanthi with 18 Lions, 90 differently-abled children, 15 teachers, and 10 parents. District Governor Lion Priyantha Perera PMJF, PMAF, District First Lady Lion Dushanthi Gomez, Zone Chairman Lion Dr. J. R. Manathunga, and Lion Lady Chamila Manathunga graced the event, making it a true celebration of love, inclusion, and service

The Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies organized a special project titled “Little Minds Matter” on October 3, 2025, at Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. under the theme “Mental Health and Well-Being.” The event aimed to promote emotional happiness among differently-abled children. They were treated to lunch, music, dancing, and games, filling the park with laughter and joy. A Pooh cosplay added extra excitement, making the children’s day truly memorable. The Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies organized a service project on 21st August 2025 at 7:00 AM at Pushpa Elders Home, Wadduwa. A total of 12 club members and 5 cabinet members actively participated. The program featured a karaoke session to bring joy to the elders, along with a diabetic clinic and health campaign. In addition, food, clothes, and essential commodities were donated to support the residents. The presence of Zone Chairman Lion Dr. J.D. Manathunga and District GMT Coordinator Lion Harsha Galhena added significance to the event, making it a memorable and impactful service activity.

Astronomical Night Camp & Training Workshop

Astronomy is a subject that students in every school are eager to learn these days. from This kind of services we provide to schools like this, directly affect the development of the knowledge of school students. 75 school children and 25 school teachers of Ingiriya central college ( Gourment School) were selected and given proper training about astronomy and astronomical club was established. For this, eight instructors from the ehaliyagoda central collage astronomical club and one lecture frim United nation association of sri lanka participated and they conducted the training. At the end of the training, all the students were given a recognized certificate. Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies held a special program on 15th August 2025 at Imakro Banquet Halls, Bandaragama under the theme “Appreciation of Lion Ladies.” The event was graced by the District First Lady, Lion Dushantha Gomez, as Guest of Honor. A total of 25 Lions attended, including 10 club members, 14 cabinet members, and 1 visiting Lion. A highlight of the evening was the service initiative “One Child, One Bag,” where books and a school bag were symbolically presented to the Chief Guest, emphasizing our club’s commitment to education and community service.

On 31st July 2025 at 8:30 a.m., the Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies successfully conducted a Book Donation Project at Bandaragama Public Library, Bandaragama Maha Vidyalaya, Mahavila Maha Vidyalaya, Prajapathi Girls’ School Horana, Waduramulla Vidyalaya, and Kamburugoda Vidyalaya. A total of 8 dedicated Lion members participated, distributing a variety of storybooks, religious books, educational books, creativity books, and child moral development books, aiming to promote reading habits and support the education of young learners.

On the 18th of July 2025 at 4:00 PM, the Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies successfully conducted a humanitarian project titled “Nourish with Dignity – Feeding Hearts, Filling Homes” at the Ballanthudawa Rajamaha Viharaya. The project focused on supporting 15 individuals suffering from poverty and hunger by providing essential household food commodities they cannot afford. Each beneficiary received a package including rice, dhal, sugar, tea packets, potato, onion, salt, spices, flour, soya meat, and noodles. The event was conducted with deep respect to our religious values, graced by religious leaders. Twelve dedicated Lions Club members participated. We were honored by the presence of Zone Chairman Lion Dr. J.P. Manathunga, and club advisors Lion Rasika Weththasingha and Lion D eepika Aushadarathna. The project reinforced our commitment to eradicating hunger and bringing hope to underprivileged lives.
