Project Description – Leo Naada Leo Naada was successfully held on 31st January 2026 as a collaborative initiative between the District 306 D2 and District 306 D8 Leo districts, bringing together the energy and creativity of young leaders from across the region. A total of 19 Leo Clubs united for this large-scale event, demonstrating the spirit of fellowship, teamwork, and youth empowerment that defines the Leo movement. The event served as a talent show platform where young Leos had the opportunity to showcase their diverse abilities in areas such as singing, dancing, drama, and other creative performances. The host club for this inspiring initiative was the Leo Club of Panadura Alubomulla, sponsored by the Lions Club of Alubomulla, which played a key role in organizing and facilitating the event successfully. On 29 November 2025, the Lions Club of Alubomulla organized a Flood Relief Project to provide essential support to communities affected by recent flooding. As part of the initiative, dry ration supplies valued at Rs. 150,000/= were collected and 150 parcels were distributed to flood victims. The relief materials were officially handed over to District Governor Priyantha Perera at Chamila School in Mattegoda. The activity was carried out by a dedicated team of 5 Lions, reflecting the club’s commitment to delivering timely humanitarian assistance and alleviating the hardships faced by affected families during natural disasters.

Blood Screening programme for Blood Sugar & Cholesterol Testing

On 22 November 2025, the Lions Club of Alubomulla, in collaboration with the Panadura Alubomulla Leo Club, conducted a Blood Screening Programme for blood sugar and cholesterol testing for residents of Mahawila and Alubomulla. The programme took place at Mahawila Maha Vidyalaya from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The session was supported by medical professionals, including doctors, public health inspectors, and nurses from Bandaragama M.O.H., with a total of 13 staff members participating from the Panadura MOH. The programme focused not only on testing but also on creating awareness among diabetes patients about effective ways to manage and control their condition. The main doctor from Bandaragama Hospital conducted the awareness session, providing valuable guidance and practical advice to attendees. This initiative reflects the Lions’ commitment to promoting community health and preventive care through education and medical support.

Donation for Kidney Patient

On 21 November 2025, a financial donation was made in Panadura to support a kidney patient as part of the club’s humanitarian service initiatives. A sum of Rs. 25,000/= was generously donated by Lion Nihal De Silva and Lion Chintha De Silva, while an additional Rs. 25,000/= was contributed by Governor Palitha, bringing the total assistance to Rs. 50,000/=. The donation was officially handed over to Lion Viraj Vipula Jayalath of the Halthota Centennial Club for the purpose of supporting the patient’s medical needs. This contribution reflects the continued commitment of Lions leadership and members to extend compassionate assistance to individuals facing critical health challenges. A photograph of the donation ceremony is required to complete the official submission and documentation of this service activity.

On 11 November 2025, the “Coffee with Lions” Project was held at the residence of Palitha Wijegoonawardena (M.J.F) to emphasize the importance of the relationship between Lions and Leos. The discussion was conducted by Madhushi Kodikara, President of the Leo Club, with active participation from Sarath C. Perera, Lion Palitha Wijegoonawardena (M.J.F), and Tissa Rodrigo. During the session, participants revisited the golden days of the Lions movement, sharing experiences and insights to inspire mentorship, collaboration, and strengthened bonds between Lions and Leos. The event was documented and widely shared, with the video uploaded to social media platforms and YouTube to promote awareness and encourage engagement within the wider community.

New water service connection for Pubudu Pre School – Miriswatta

On 29 July 2025, a new water service connection was successfully provided for Pubudu Pre School, under the auspices of the Lions Club of Alubomulla. The project involved a total expenditure of Rs. 37,550, covering the following costs: Rs. 24,500 for new connection charges Rs. 10,000 for Capital Recovery Cost Rs. 3,000 for security deposit Rs. 50 for application fee Located at 690B, Miriswatta, Mahavila, Panadura, the new water connection ensures a reliable and safe water supply for the preschool, significantly improving the sanitation and learning environment for the children. This initiative exemplifies the Lions Club’s commitment to supporting educational institutions and enhancing community welfare.

This highly visible project ensured maximum impact by integrating vision screening and spectacles donation into a large-scale community health event. Vision impairment significantly impacts education, employment, and quality of life. The provision of comprehensive screening followed by the donation of spectacles provides immediate, tangible relief for individuals diagnosed with refractive errors, enabling them to lead more productive and independent lives. 3. Objective: The primary objective of this project was to mitigate the environmental impact surrounding the Karadiyana Waste Management Site. By increasing the green cover, we aim to combat pollution and restore the natural ecosystem. This project also served as a youth engagement initiative to foster environmental stewardship among university students. Action Taken: On February 7, 2026, the Bokundara Central Lions Club conducted a hands-on tree planting program. Volunteers from the club worked alongside students from the University of Sabaragamuwa to plant variety-specific saplings in the yard surrounding the Karadiyana waste management site.
