The Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies conducted “Let’s Fight Cancer” on 12 November 2025 at the Palpola MOH Hall under the Global Causes theme, with a sub-theme of Childhood Cancer. Led by Project Chairperson Lion Thushari Tharanganee, the program aimed to serve the community by raising awareness on breast cancer, promoting healthy habits, and safeguarding girls’ and feminine health. The event was held from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM with the participation of 6 members, supporting early education and preventive care.

Led by Project Chairperson Lion Thushari Tharanganee, the project focused on public service through a medical outreach camp to educate women on breast cancer and promote healthy lifestyle practices. The event ran from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM with the participation of 6 members, strengthening community awareness and early-detection habits.

On the 20th of October 2025, the Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies successfully organized a charitable event under the banner of “One Family, One Roof” at Moragahena Maha Vidyalaya. The primary objective of the initiative was to provide meaningful support to a woman in need, ensuring the fulfillment of her basic right to a safe and secure home. During this event, a donation of Rs. 10,000 was presented to her as a symbol of our commitment. This contribution marks the promise of the Lions Club to assist in the construction of her house, reflecting our dedication to community welfare and humanitarian service. The event was conducted with warmth, compassion, and the spirit of Lions’ service, leaving a positive impact on both the beneficiary and attendees.

Establishment of the Invention Club – Dharmaraja Vidyalaya, Piliyandala A new Invention Club was formally established at Dharmaraja Vidyalaya, Piliyandala, marking an important step toward fostering creativity, innovation, and technical skills among students. During the inaugural meeting, the inaugural office-bearers were selected. President: Dimuthu Secretary: Matheesha Other student officers: Selected to support the club’s activities and administration. The session focused on the importance of nurturing invention skills from school level, highlighting how innovative thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on experimentation can shape future engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs. Club procedures, operational guidelines, and future activity plans were discussed in detail. Students were briefed on how the club will guide young inventors to participate in major national competitions.

Supporting families affected by childhood cancer.

Every month, during the first week, we lovingly carry gifts in our hands and go to Indira Cancer Trust to visit the little ones receiving treatment. We go with the hope of easing, even a little, the pain in those children’s hearts and the sorrow in their parents’ hearts — to make those two hours joyful for them. We go hoping to bring the smallest little smiles to their faces. We visited on November 7. ❤️ As always, we sang songs, danced, and spent time with them. Any loving member of our Singha family is welcome to join us to visit them — to sing, dance, draw, or do anything that can make them happy. But this is not a project. This is a humanitarian mission. It is our responsibility to bring them joy, because those who have been fighting cancer for months and years need all our love and compassion. They are one of us. ❤️ We gifted a storybook to each child. Singha Nuwan and Singha Lakmali brought fruits for them. At my request, Singha Devduni and Singha Thusith also joined.

Maliban Smart cream cackers=4 packets (65 Biscuts in one packet ×4=260 biscuits) Pure Dale milk 1kg and Raththi milk 400g This items enough for 200 people. Then approval authority can assume 200 beneficiaries are fair and reasonable.

Awareness program on Diabetes and related foods at the "Niroga Elders' Home, Temple road, Hadapangoda. A total of 21 elders paticipated. The program was held on 14th of November 2025 from 11.00am to 12.00pm. A lecture on diabetes was conducted by Nutritionist Ms. Iresha Samanmali.

The Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies successfully conducted a collaborative district project on 20/10/2025 at Moragahena Maha Vidyalaya, Moragahena, Horana under the leadership of Project Chairman Lion Sithara Jayarathne. The project emphasized collaboration with other clubs and Leos to maximize community impact. The event was graced by Lions Clubs International Director Lion David Wineman as Chief Guest, along with the District Governor, Zone, and Region Chairpersons. The project included a medical camp supported by Lion doctors and a donation of pens for the region’s “1 Child 1 Bag” initiative, headed by Regional Chairperson Lion Nilantha Peries, making it a highly successful campaign.

The Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies organized a key project for the District Service Carnival on 20/10/2025 at Moragahena Maha Vidyalaya, Moragahena, Horana, under the leadership of Project Chairman Lion Rangika Jayathilaka. As part of the carnival, the club conducted a successful medical camp that provided treatment to over 125 local patients as well as many Lions. The event was honored by the presence of Lions Clubs International Director Lion David Wineman as the Chief Guest. The District Governor, along with the Zone and Region Chairpersons, also attended. With the dedicated support of several Lion doctors, the project became a highly impactful and well-recognized service initiative.
