LECTURE ON GEOLOGY AND GEMOLOGY

Today, the Gemology Association of Ingiriya Madya Vidyalaya was established and a lecture on Gemology was held for 50 students. This is expected to provide future business opportunities for school children, to nourish future generations with knowledge for the gem business that has spread around the Ingiriya area, and to update their knowledge if their parents are involved in the gem field. The first lecture series was attended by lions club of midcity president , as a Gemologist, and a Gemology Instructor from Sabaragamuwa University. The project chairman was Lion Akila Ukwaththa, and organized by the Lions Clubs of Horana Mid City.

A series of lectures on mental health/transition period were held for 600 school children sponsored by the Horana Midcity Lions Club. A series of lectures were held on the changes and mental health issues faced by school students during the transition period. Through this lecture, they also had the opportunity to discuss their problems with doctors. This was sponsored by the Horana Midcity Lions Club and milk packets were also given to 600 students during the program. The event was attended by district cabinet officers & horana midcity Lions The project was chaired by Lion Akila Ukwaththa and organized by the Lions Clubs of Horana MidCity

Mental Helth Program for Adults

A special lecture series was held on how to deal with mental distress and problematic situations and how their behavior and lifestyle affect children. A doctor from Horana Base Hospital and a doctor from Ratnapura Hospital were involved in conducting this program. The program was organized by Ingiriya Gamini College and lion Akila Ukwatta was the project chairman and was conducted with the full support & Courtesy of Horana Midcity Lions Club.

Milk packets and buns were provided to the 100 participating students during the break.

මතුගම හා නෑබඩ අවට ප්‍රදේශ වල ඉගෙනුම ලබන මෙවර ශිෂ්‍යත්ව විභාගයට පෙනීසිටීමට නියමිත පාසල් සිසු සුසුවියන් 100 ක් උදෙසා සිදු කල මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය හරහා ඔවුන්ට විභාග ගැටලු නිරාකරණය කරගැනීම විභාගයට වෙලාව කළමනාකරණය කරගැනීම හා ශිෂ්‍යත්ව විභාගය සමත්වීමට අවශ්‍ය සියලු දැනුම ලබා ගැනීමට හැකිවිය. සහභාගි වූ සිසුන් 100 වෙනුවෙන් විවේක කාලයේදී කිරිපැකට් හා බනිස් ලබාදුනි. මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය හොරණ මිඩ්සිටි සිංහ සමාජයේ අනුග්‍රහය යටතේ සිදු කල අතර සිංහ මහින්දරත්න කළුබෝවල ව්‍යාපෘතිය සංවිධානය හා ව්‍යාපෘති සභාපති ලෙස කටයුතු කලේය.

CONSTRUCTION NEW VOLLEYBALL COURT

With the sponsorship of the Horana Midcity Lions Club, the newly constructed volleyball court at Ingiriya Gamini Central College was handed over to the school on 12th September 2025, under the leadership of the 306 D2 District Governor Lion Priyantha Perera PMJF and the Lion Lady The program was chaired by Lion Akila Ukwaththa (President, Lions Club of Horana Mid City) and coordinated by Dasuni Wikramasinghe. 306 D2 R7 Regenol Chairperson Lion Dayapala Pathirage MJF Participated to the event.

Shishyathwa Exam Rehearsal and Seminar

Shishyathwa Exam Rehearsal and Seminar. This project was conducted for 100 school students studying in the areas around Matugama and Nebada who are scheduled to appear for this year's Shishyathwa exam. Through this project, they were able to solve exam problems, manage their time for the exam and gain all the knowledge necessary to pass the scholarship exam.

In our ongoing efforts to support youth development and community wellbeing, the Horana Midcity Lions Club provided evening snacks and tea for 75 students who participated in the volleyball tournament at WP/HO Gamini Central College, Ingiriya. This gesture ensured the young players were cared for and energized, motivating them to perform with enthusiasm and team spirit. We are proud to encourage the next generation and will continue to serve the community with dedication.
