Blood Donation Support Programme

On 5th March 2026, the Lions Club of Kesbewa conducted a community service project in support of a blood donation programme held at the Dental Therapists Training School, Maharagama. During this programme, the club donated food items including milk packets, cake, and short eats for blood donors and participants. The objective of this project was to support and appreciate blood donors by providing refreshments and encouraging blood donation, which is an essential service that helps save lives.

On 25th March 2026, the Lions Club of Kesbewa organized a school donation programme by distributing school bags, exercise books, and essential school items to school children in need. The objective of this project was to support children’s education by providing necessary school supplies and reducing the financial burden on their families.

Most of what we do is for the better tomorrow of our children ❤️ Under the leadership of District Governor Lion Priyantha Perera PMJF PMAF and First Lady Lion Dushanti Gomas MAF, the Lions District 306 D2 Christmas Celebration was held very successfully today at St. Sebastian’s Girls’ School, with the participation of 530 schoolchildren. A programme to distribute pencil cases, pens, and erasers to all the girls of the school was successfully carried out with the kind sponsorship of Lion Prasadith, President of the Arawwala Lions Club. With the aim of brightening the future of the children of our nation, this marks another valuable community service initiative jointly organized by the members of the Arawwala Lions Club ❤️

On March 02, the Lions Club of Arawwala successfully conducted the project “One Bag, One Child” under the initiative “Akurata Saviya – A Helping Hand for Education.” This project was organized under the leadership of Club President and Project Chairman Lion Prasadith Padmakumara (LCIF District Coordinator – “Akurata Saviya” Project) with Lion Chandrika Wijesooriya serving as Co-Project Chairperson. The project was carried out in the Balangoda – Waligepola area, benefiting 60 underprivileged and special needs children. Under the theme “One Bag, One Child,” each child received a school bag along with the complete booklist and essential educational materials, helping them continue their education with encouragement and support.

The project aimed to provide immediate support to families whose lives were disrupted by the disaster, ensuring they had access to basic food and essential household items during this challenging period.

SINHA KADELLA-Undertaking a home renovation support initiative

Under the SINHA KADELLA (Housing Development Program) A home renovation support initiative was carried out to assist a needy family in the Balangoda Weligepola area. The family consists of a mother who lost her husband and two children who are currently facing many difficulties. As part of this project, the essential materials required to build a kitchen for the house were provided, including roofing sheets, a door with a frame, and other necessary construction materials. Lions Club of Kesbewa carried out a disaster relief project on 4th December 2025 by donating 1,000 lunch parcels to people in the Kaduwela area who were affected by the Ditwah natural disaster in Sri Lanka in late 2025. The lunch parcels were distributed to families who were cleaning their flooded houses and to residents whose homes were still under water. This initiative was organized to provide immediate meal support to affected families who were facing difficulties preparing food due to the disaster situation.

Many families in the area were facing difficulties due to the disaster, and this project was organized to support affected families by providing essential food items, clothing, and hygiene products. The donated items were distributed among affected families to help them manage their daily needs during the difficult period following the disaster.
