World Mental Health Day 2025 ???????? ❤“Healthy Mind, Happy Life”❤ Lions of Colombo Havelock Town, Wellawatte West, Hiripitiya, and Colombo Wings joined hands to commemorate World Mental Health Day by organizing an inspiring Mental Health Awareness Session for students and parents of Vidyathilake Vidyalaya, Jawatta, together with lecturers from Sumithrayo.❤????????❤❤ The Chief Guest was District Governor Lion Priyantha Perera PMJF of Lions District 306 D-2, accompanied by First Lady Dushyanthi. Also present were Lion Heshini Siriwardena – District GST Coordinator & Region Chairperson Region 01, Lion Nimesh Perera, Club Presidents Lion Mitabi Gunawardena and Lion Padmi Fernando, and Lions Rohitha, Manel, and Dinusha.❤???????? It was a truly interactive and impactful session. Governor appreciated the efforts and discussed more future school-based mental health projects with Sumithrayo.❤❤❤

World's Children Day Celebration

The World Children’s Day Celebration organized by the Children’s Resource Centre, Nagaswatta, in collaboration with the Lions Clubs of Wellawatte West, Colombo 06 Cosmopolitan, Wellawatte Legends, and Colombo Wings, was successfully held on 1st October 2025 at the Children’s Resource Centre, Kirulapone. The programme featured art and handwriting competitions, cultural performances, and recreational activities for underprivileged children. All partnering clubs contributed gifts and refreshments, ensuring the successful completion of the project and bringing joy to the participating children.

On behalf of the world environment clean up date , The Cleanup Sri Lanka Project, organized by the Lions Club of Colombo Wings in collaboration with Lions Club 306D2 Region 01, was successfully held on 20th September 2025 at Wellawatte Beach. The project saw enthusiastic participation from Lions members across the region, who came together in the true spirit of service to restore cleanliness and promote environmental awareness. Through their collective effort, the team contributed to creating a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable beach environment. The event was a remarkable success, demonstrating the unity, dedication, and environmental responsibility of the Lions community in working towards a cleaner and greener Sri Lanka.

Maths Tuition Project Under the vision of the DG’s Akurata Saviyak Program, the Lions Club of Colombo Wings together with the Lions Club of Wellawatte West proudly launched a special educational project to support the younger generation. A qualified Mathematics tuition teacher was sponsored to conduct lessons specifically targeting the 2025 G.C.E. O/L students of three schools in Colombo. This initiative aims to strengthen the students’ knowledge in mathematics, improve their exam readiness, and create a stronger foundation for their future education.

Project Successfully Completed Under the vision of the DG’s Akurata Saviyak Program, the Lions Club of Colombo Wings together with the Lions Club of Wellawatte West successfully completed a meaningful project aimed at uplifting the younger generation. The initiative provides students with the opportunity to enhance their reading skills and general knowledge through the donation of a weekly newspaper to the school for a period of one year. This project was carried out in collaboration with Lakehouse Publishers. More than 80 students of the school will directly benefit from this valuable initiative, which will help nurture a culture of reading and continuous learning.

Medicinal Herbal Tree Planting and Donation ceremony

The medicinal herbal tree planting and donation ceremony took place at Maha Visuddharamaya Temple, Colombo 09 on 2nd of August from 8 am onwards. The project was initiated with the combined efforts of Lions club of Colombo Wings with Lion club of Wellawatta West under the leadership of Lion Dinusha with the guidance of Lions Heshini. A variety of medicinal herbal plants were planted and a total of 20kg of fertilizer was donated to support the healthy growth of the plants.

A nourishing chicken and vegetable soup was donated on 30th July for the OPD patients who were waiting for treatment at the HelpAge eye hospital, wellawatta. The project was organized by Lions Club of Wellawatta West together with Lions Club of Colombo Wings. The chicken soup was donated by Lion Padmini and Lion Seetha while the vegetable soup was donated by Lion Padmini.

Clean Sri Lanka Project - Shade of Healing - Project 1 Held at S. De S. Jayasinghe College, Dehiwala on 21st September 2025. The project involved cleaning and preparing the land at the college herbal garden for restoration and future planting of herbs. Project Initiator: Lion Kanchuka Project Chairperson: Lion Dhammika Estimated Budget: Rs. 35,000/- We extend our sincere thanks to Lions Club of Boralesgamuwa and Lions Club of Boralesgamuwa Business Circle for their valuable contributions, and to Lions Club of Hiripitiya (Visiting Lions) for their support. This initiative will be carried forward as a sustainable project to support Ayurvedic and Hela doctors practicing traditional medicine.
