“Akurata Saviyak” – Lions Club 306 D2 Empowers 200 Students with books and stationery items

Under the project theme “Akurata Saviyak” initiated by the newly appointed District Governor of 306 D2, Lion Priyantha Perera, a successful donation campaign was launched to support schoolchildren with books and stationery items. The event was graced by Chief Guest District Governor Lion Priyantha Perera and First Lion Lady Dushanthi Gomas, along with the presence of Past District Governors Lion Asanga Samaraekara and Lion Ajith Liyanage. Also in attendance were Regional Cabinet Chairperson Lion Gamini Walganpaya, Zone Cabinet Chairperson Lion Pradeep Amarathunga, and Main Cabinet Officers Lion Melroy Jayasinghe, Lion Devduni Shyamen, and Lion Sajeewa Prasanna. The event also acknowledged the contributions of Immediate Past President Lion Sarath Dharmasiri, whose continued support has been instrumental in the club’s community service efforts.

Lion Piyathilaka Dandeniya has been donating Rs.2,000/- to the School Development Society of WP/HO/Gungamuwa Primary School, Western Province, Sri Lanka, as a part payment of a salary for an IT Teacher, since there is no an IT Teacher has been recruited for the school. Under the Theme: Medical Camps and Medical Assistance – “Suwa Diwiyata Siha Sawiyak” and the Sub-theme: Any Other Humanitarian Activities, the Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies carried out a compassionate service project at the Pushpa Elders’ Home. Essential commodities and daily necessities were donated to support the well-being of the elderly residents. The project was further honored by the presence of the Zone Chairman, whose participation added encouragement and recognition. This initiative reflected the club’s deep commitment to humanitarian service and to spreading kindness and care among the elderly community.

In line with the Theme: Medical Camps and Medical Assistance – “Suwa Diwiyata Siha Sawiyak” and the Sub-theme: Organizing a Medical Camp Beyond Fixed Public Locations for Community Needs, the Lions Club of Ballanthudawa Royal Ladies conducted a special health project titled “We Lions Fight for Diabetes.” The program provided the elderly residents of Pushpa Elders’ Home with diabetic check-ups, medical equipment, essential medication, and relaxing massage therapies to improve circulation and comfort. The event was graced by the Zone Chairman, adding significance and encouragement. This initiative reflected the Lions’ continuous dedication to serving community health and uplifting lives through compassionate action.

In line with the International Theme: Environment and the Local Theme: “Thuruliya Piri Bimak, Haritha Warna Hetak,” under the Sub-theme: Planting trees designed by the UDA, RDA, and local authority through the Greenery Town Project, our club conducted a tree-planting program to enhance community greenery and promote sustainable urban development. A total of 12 trees—including Mango, Rambutan, Durian, Jackfruit, and Passion Fruit—were planted at the Sri Saranankara Well-being Center. This effort strengthens local biodiversity, supports environmental restoration, and aligns with national initiatives for a greener, healthier Sri Lanka.

Repaired and Handed over 17 Bedside cupboard to General Hospital Horana. Project chairperson lion MI Thilaka. District Governor Lion Priyantha Perera also participated to the event. Each and every patient admitted to the Hospital may use the cupboard. The cupboard repaired can be used long time. Therfore estimated minimum benifceries have been calculated 1200 Re-submit with Following comments. ===================== Method used for the calculation of beneficiaries as follows. One patient admitted to the hospital is used this one Cupboard for 4 days. Then 7 patients is used one Cupboard per month. Then 7× 17 Cupboard is being used 119 patients per month. That basis 119×12 =1328 patients per year. Cupboard repaired can be used more than one year. But we considered minimum one year period for the calculation of benifceries. It was round up 1200 beneficiaries. Is there a any other method to calculate the benifceries please let us know. DG also participated to the project.
