Mahā Kavi Maduwa and Prasanna Salpila
The Mahā Kavi Maduwa (Poetry Gathering) and Prasanna Salpila, organized by the Kesbewa Cultural Council, were held on the evening of 11 September 2026, near the Piliyandala Clock Tower.
The Arawwala Lions Club President, Lion Nandika Perera MJF, provided sponsorship for the stage setup for this cultural event.
The main objective of this initiative was to preserve and promote these traditional forms of art, which are gradually disappearing from modern society, and to provide future generations with an opportunity to experience and appreciate them.
Many renowned poets and poetry enthusiasts from across Sri Lanka participated in this special programme.
The sponsorship for the stage was provided at the request of the Kesbewa Cultural Council, as part of the Arawwala Lions Club’s commitment to supporting and preserving our country’s cultural heritage.
