Ritigala forest and Archeological reserve
Members of the Lions Club of Polgasowita visited the Ritigala Natural Reserve in the Anuradhapura area, accompanied by officers from the Wildlife, Forestry, and Archaeological Departments, with the objective of identifying meaningful projects through which Lions can contribute to the preservation of heritage sites, the environment, and wildlife. The visit was greatly enriched by the guidance and support of the Chief Wildlife Officer, Mr. Donald Ramasingha, whose strong commitment, invaluable insights, and dedicated contribution were instrumental in shaping the direction of the proposed conservation initiatives. This exposure visit provided valuable understanding of conservation priorities and sustainable interventions aligned with Lionism. Charter Lion Jayantha Abeygunarathna, a passionate wildlife enthusiast, will take the lead in formulating a dedicated project focused on the preservation and protection of elephants in the area.
