With the rapid advancement of modern technology, students are increasingly engaging in product development using platforms such as Arduino. To support this trend, basic facilities including microcontroller kits, sensors, prototyping equipment, and computer-based design tools are being utilized to encourage hands-on learning and innovation.
During the evaluation of student projects, it was observed that there is a strong need to strengthen students’ fundamental knowledge in design principles, electronics, and practical implementation. Addressing this requirement, a special awareness and training session was conducted by Lecturer Janitha Dissanayake from the School of Computing, University of Colombo.
The session covered essential theoretical concepts along with practical insights into Arduino-based design and product development. Students actively participated and showed great enthusiasm, engaging in interactive discussions and a productive Q&A session.
