3. Objective: The primary objective of this project was to mitigate the environmental impact surrounding the Karadiyana Waste Management Site. By increasing the green cover, we aim to combat pollution and restore the natural ecosystem. This project also served as a youth engagement initiative to foster environmental stewardship among university students.
Action Taken: On February 7, 2026, the Bokundara Central Lions Club conducted a hands-on tree planting program. Volunteers from the club worked alongside students from the University of Sabaragamuwa to plant variety-specific saplings in the yard surrounding the Karadiyana waste management site. The activity involved site preparation, sapling placement, and establishing a maintenance plan.
Collaboration: This project represents a successful community partnership. The synergy between the professional experience of the Lions and the energetic volunteerism of the Sabaragamuwa University students allowed for an efficient and high-impact
