As part of its commitment to humanitarian service and community upliftment, the Lions Club of Polgasowita carried out a meaningful service project to support students of Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo 10, who were adversely affected by the recent Dithva cyclone and subsequent floods. This initiative reflects the guiding principles and values of Lionism, focusing on compassion, service, and care for vulnerable communities.
Under this project, Charter Lion Jayampathi Suriyapperuma and Lion Lady Wasanthi Suriyapperuma generously donated a sum of Rs. 50,000.00 to provide shoes for the needy students. Many families of the school had faced severe hardships due to the disaster, resulting in damage to homes and loss of essential belongings. The donation addressed an urgent and practical need, helping students return to school with dignity and confidence.
The project directly contributed to improving the well-being and morale of the children.
