The Lions Club hosted a dedicated awareness session at Darmaraja Vidyalaya on 8th October 2025 to engage students(200), teachers(10) and parents(200) in meaningful dialogue on mental health. The “Mental Health & Well-Being” initiative is one of the global service focus areas of Lions Clubs International, aiming to mobilise clubs worldwide to respond to rising mental health challenges by awareness-raising, supporting community mental health activities, and building resilience through service.
The talk was conducted by Community Police Inspector Manoj Samarasekara (also serving as a counsellor), who delivered an insightful, interactive session designed especially for the school environment.
The session covered essential themes such as: defining mental health and well-being; recognising stress, anxiety and emotional challenges among youth; practical resilience-building strategies; the value of seeking help; and the role of parents, teachers and community in supporting mental health.
