The District Christmas Celebration was held at Moratuwa St. Sebastian’s Girls’ School, with the participation of approximately 550 students and 34 teaching staff members. During the event, lunch was provided to all 550 participants in a buffet style.

School bags, stationery, and lists of school books were distributed to children recovering from cancer, children recommended by doctors to attend school, and siblings of children battling cancer, at Maharagama ‘Suwa Arana’. This program was organized under the guidance of the District Governor, with coordination carried out by Lion Dewduni Shamen MJF MAF.

At the request of Lion Dewduni, the District Governor provided an umbrella to a mother who sells porridge in the mornings. The umbrella she previously had was in a very poor condition.

SAFE AND HEALTHY FOOD INITIATIVES

On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, a special health program was successfully conducted on the morning of November 14th at the Kohila Kotuwwa MOH Office. The program included awareness sessions conducted by Public Health Inspectors of the Maharagama Division, focusing on: Adopting food safety standards when purchasing food Understanding food codes and labels Selecting healthy and safe foods for children Avoiding foods containing artificial ingredients Identifying nutritious and high-quality food products available in the market In addition, the following services were provided to the community: ✅ Free medical consultations ✅ A valuable health awareness session ✅ A special awareness program on dengue prevention A dedicated medical team consisting of four doctors, five Public Health Midwives, and two Public Health Inspectors provided their professional services during the event. lunch was provided for 350 villagers, including children and parents. Among the beneficiaries were families affected by the tragic Yahangala landslide on November 27, which claimed many lives. The proposal for this meaningful project was presented by the Chief Incumbent and Principal of the Pirivena of our temple, Rajakeeya Panditha, Shasthrapathi Venerable Udaththewa Ariyagnana Thero. Sadly, nearly 38 close relatives, including the parents of Venerable Udaththewa Ariyagnana Thero and his brother Venerable Udaththewa Vijitha Thero, lost their lives in this landslide. In remembrance and merit transfer to those departed souls, we also organized a Sanghika Dana, respectfully offering alms to the Maha Sangha.
